Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA)
Ethylene Vinyl acetate is a co-polymer resin material that is known for its extreme elasticity, toughness & puncture resistance. This EVA resin can be formed into porous material when sintered, which becomes identical to the rubber material but with extra toughness. This EVA polymer resin is formed by blending or polymerizing two monomers that are ethylene & vinyl acetate together. The ethylene vinyl acetate polymers are used in water borne paints as a coating formulation for providing good adhesion & binding property. Due to its low temperature flexibility, the EVA copolymer is widely used to make orthodontics, surfboard, skim-board traction pads, sports mouth guards etc. Apart from this, ethylene vinyl acetate polymer is also utilized to make trans-dermal patches as it binds well with other agents that forms gel like substances.
